About the project
Ever since the 1870s, the famous candle brand has been focused on creating magical and atmospheric moments. With love for people and the planet, Bolsius has made its way into many households. Also, their spring-summer candle collection encapsulates the true summer night out ambiance in your home. Working together with the brand, we were able to capture this specific ambiance for online usages such as socials or the website and the product catalogue with the goal to increase brand awareness and equity.
Candles can add a lot to the right ambiance in the house during memorable moments. The moment when you light a candle is the moment that Bolsius wanted to capture for their new collection. The shoot was inspired by a warm and atmospheric style that reflects the magic of the flame. Not focussing on dark, but on fresh, neutral, and modern. With this in mind, we worked a lot with shadows and light creating the perfect atmospheric light features which are characteristics of Bolsius, this created unity within the different collections. We also worked with our in-house props to represent the different ingredients based on the different "fragrances IDs".
We worked on portraying three different settings to capture the right ambiance. There have been images focused on settings in an inspiring environment or environments that are linked to those special "moments". With the help of our in-house props, and using them to style the set, we were able to capture the right feeling with every image. Additionally, it was important to shoot the entire collection with product range shots and also have shots of one product with product hero shots. Aside from perfecting the right shot, we also became experts when it comes to creating the "right flame". This means precision with the wax around the wick and the right curve of the flame for the perfect image.
